Addictions are life-dominating problems that often require accountability and assistance to beat. Fertile Ground Ranch offers biblically based help to willing students. We are not a rehab facility. FGR is a discipleship school where the hard work of training in righteousness according to God’s Word is the primary curriculum.
The Bible presents the cause of addiction as a sin problem rather than a disease. Therefore, solutions that do not confront sin, fail to magnify Christ, and do not lead to new patterns of righteousness will not provide lasting help and change.
FGR does not employ solutions based on the “12 steps” structure, whether Christian or otherwise. At FGR, we take God and sin seriously. The Bible provides the help necessary to deal with sin and address the trusts and treasures of the heart. However, killing sinful habits and growing in habits of grace – while pursuing a right relationship with God – is hard work. Therefore, what FGR requires of students will be demanding. FGR is not for those looking for a traditional rehab program or a passive training program with low expectations. FGR offers training that achieves results only when students put in the effort.
At FGR we know that few men are willing to submit themselves to the teachings of the Bible and to the rigorous study of it. We expect that only those who look to the Lord for help and who are serious about doing what He says will complete the program. In fact, students who are not seriously engaged in our course of study will be asked to withdraw. Yet, there will be those who are determined to endure and who will trust God’s promises and power to sustain them. For these men, we believe dramatic, supernatural and lifelong transformation will begin to take place.
